The news reports about Google and Sprint teaming up on a new WiMax Network disgusts me. The reason simple, I am not a fan of Sprint. I still remember them as one of my motivations for creating Phone Hell for significant over charing of domestic long distance.Though many people complain about Google and think they have some plan for world domination I don't see where they have abused the public.
I would like to see Google go for a WiMax Network implementation, but they need to leave the old telecom names out of it. We need new technology and new business ideas. The old line telecos just won't cut it in this day and age.
The Washington Post writes about this plan:
The Reston wireless provider, which now refers to itself as a mobile-broadband pioneer, is placing bets on a souped-upwireless technology called WiMax and has enlisted the help of Google as a first partner to spark excitement around the forthcoming launch.
.I wonder if this "Reston wireless provider" is one of the mobile providers that "locks" devices in an anti-consumer manner to ensure their corporate wallet will be full regardless of the quality of service they provide?
