As the two main contenders duke it out, it seems one is getting the upper hand on the other. The fighter in red lays out a huge haymaker on his opponent in blue to win the fight. Yahoo has become the number one portal on the internet.
Yahoo currently has much better customer satisfaction than Google does. More people are logging on to Yahoo for more of their daily needs. But some experts are predicting a new contender to come about. It seems Ask.com is rising through the ranks to become a heavyweight contender. But will it have enough to battle Yahoo?
And yet another unknown fighter is becoming better as well. GlobalSpec is the engineer's search engine of choice. Will these four battle it out for the top spot for all eternity? Only you can decide. Which search engine do you use?
ASK!!!?!?!?.Whoah! No way jose!
What might happen is that if someone geeks get ahold of Infoseek.com there can be a real contender for the big-3 (that would be Google, Yahoo and MSN).
Although Grub publically annouced that they will enter the fight with a open source search engine and have done distributing crawling for a while... they need to get their crawlers working better before speaking up.
It took a week for one of my pc's to crawl 30,000 sites for them. That should have happened in less than a day. Another had done a whole 4,500 sites. Both site quiet most weeks doing absolutely nothing. I should have easily knocked off a million or so sites.
When you have the technology working you don't have to announce it to anyone, because they will see it is better and start using it.
And that is where Google could lose the fight. If they forget how they got started!
