The Year of College Begins Once Again

By Jamin Greensbury at 08/27/08 17:30
Many of our country's youth have already headed out on their way to college, including yours truly. We face many trials ahead of us, so be kind to us.

Trials? How about coming up for 500+ dollars for books? Or applying for loans that you can't get without your parents' help? And then managing all of your time to get to and from classes. Oh boy what fun.

But its an experience none can deny, except if you're a dorm dweller and have no friends... But that's not me. Being a freshman its okay to live in the dorms and make new friends. But I would hate to be the 5th year senior living down the hall from me. How many college seniors do you know or have known that still lived in the dorms and not an off campus apartment?

Time to learn.

Bigfoot Found?

By Jamin Greensbury at 08/18/08 15:15
I'm sure mamy of you have heard the story sweeping the nation about the discovery of a Bigfoot carcass. The two men that found it, Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, claim its over 7 feet tall and over 500 pounds. Some people say its a hoax, but I think this one could be real. I don't know how much you can make a hoax out of a body.

Many people are already claiming its a hoax, saying its a Halloween costume with animal entrails on top of it. Well, they can believe whatever they want. But there has to be a time when Bigfoot is discovered and that time seems to have come too soon to them.

Plus the men who discovered it won't reveal its location in order to protect the remaining creatures they saw when they found the body. That seems honorable enough and is getting me to believe.

The world can now only wait.

The 'CD Age' isn't quite over yet

By Jamin Greensbury at 08/08/08 11:32
Remember the days before iTunes and other such music downloading programs came out? Everyone had their own CD player, whether it be a huge stereo system, a car CD player, or just a compact player you could take with you everywhere. Now that the iPod and other MP3 players have come out, you just don't see those as much anymore. Well, I lied, car players are still in numerous amounts.

Anyway, I like to call the era before the iPod the 'CD Age'. And to me, this 'age' isn't quite done yet. Sure with the convenience of iTunes you can get any song you want for 99 cents and even buy entire albums for whatever they cost. But iTunes also has the upload your CD feature. This is where you can save a whole lot of money.

This CD feature is great for bands such as AC/DC and Led Zeppelin whose songs won't show up on iTunes. Just pop in one of their albums and now you have their songs on your iPod.

Or just go to a place called the land of Wal-Mart. I was just strolling through the CD aisle last night and found AC/DC's 'The Razor's Edge' album for 7 bucks! It has 12 songs on it and if it WAS on iTunes, it would cost closer to 12 dollars. In that case, you just saved 5 bucks and now you can buy even more songs.

What I'm trying to say is look at local music stores for your CD's instead of going online to buy them. Of course you could always download illegally, but I don't trust those sites on my computer. The choice is yours.

Now the Local Feed goes out

By Jamin Greensbury at 08/05/08 15:25
I won't lie to you, I am an avid viewer of the new American Gladiators. So if any of you are familiar, the finale was on last night. It was a two hour special, the first hour being the last of the semifinals and the second being the actual final. I watched the first hour, waiting for the second, more anticipated hour. But I wouldn't get to see that last hour.

I was primed and ready to go, popcorn in hand for the finale. That's when not even five minutes into the episode, the satellite feed goes out.

It was then I screamed, "NOOO!"

I have DirecTV at my home. We get a local feed for all the stations such as NBC, CBS, ABC, etc. Every other channel besides the local channels was working just fine.

So I was watching a blank screen for about 20 minutes until a message came up. The message made me aware this wasn't DirecTV's fault and they were doing everything to fix the problem. Then after about another 20 minutes, a message came up saying to switch to the national NBC channel. That was awesome, because I don't even get the channel and DirecTV provided it for free for the time it took the local feed to be fixed.

So I tuned into the last 10 minutes of Gladiators and saw one of the contestants was bruised and battered. Why couldn't I have seen how?!?

Annoyances in the Airport

By Website Introductions at 08/03/08 15:31
Have you ever felt so annoyed with airport officials for their lack of competence? Well, you are not the first one to say that. All this frenxy for security is not doing anyone good as mishaps still happen. So why be that strict and include millions of names on watchout list?

The next time you get hold up inside the airport, think about this following article.

Couldn't Have Been a Coincidence

By Jamin Greensbury at 08/01/08 16:26
Today, I worked only half of my normal shift. Being that I work at an internet business, I was sort of out of luck with what happened. The internet connection was out for maybe the past 2 or so hours. But it wasn't our server's fault.

I would have blamed the servers if I had not looked at my cell phone the next minute. Where I work, I usually have 3 bars of service. But when my phone said 'no service' I knew something had to have been going on.

My phone provider is Verizon, which about 90% of the people in my area have. Then I realized our internet provider was probably Verizon as well. That being said, the two events had to be linked.

Was Verizon doing some maintenence? Who knows? But in the 2 hours I couldn't do a thing, I played whatever games were on the computer. Solitaire is not that fun of a game. I also colored using the Sharpies at my desk.

But I wonder if Verizon realized that they were somewhat screwing people over. What if I had to make an important call? I wouldn't have been able to.

I'm not pointing fingers at Verizon and saying they're a bad company, but its the most logical reason I could come up with.
