The 'Rock Gods' Have Arisen Again

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/19/08 21:19

As you may or may not know, AC/DC has come out with their new album "Black Ice" which will be out on October 20th... which is tomorrow!! The only title I can give this band is "Rock Gods". They could be easily the most recognizable band, let's say ever. I posted the video to their new single 'Rock N Roll Train' which I hope you'll enjoy as much as I did.

AC/DC is like a great wine. They only get better with age.

Burning Man 2008

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/16/08 19:50
I know its a little late to blog about this, but I stumbled across some pictures of the 2008 Burning Man Festival while surfing the vast internet. Prior to about 15 minutes ago, I had never heard of the thing. The gallery I was viewing featured people in outlandish costumes, very creative and diverse at the same time.

I found this Burning Man Site giving you more information about it, while gallery I found came from CBSNews.com. I can't really put forth any more words to describe this very unique festival, so you should go see for yourself.

Can Being Obese Save You From Death Row?

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/16/08 19:04
Just reading the title of this article may spark a question in your mind. Can the obese population of America commit the most horrid of crimes and still not be put to death? The odds of this happening are between zero and zero. But one man thought his obesity could end up saving him from death by lethal injection.

A man by the name of Richard Cooey, was placed on death row after his murder of two college students back in 1986. But instead of going with the lethal injection, he fought against it by saying he was too obese for it to work. He said that the executioners wouldn't be able to find the veins in his arm. Not to get off topic, but how horrible of a job would it be to be an executioner? Anyways, Cooey wanted a firing squad to take care of him. Has a firing squad even been used in 50 years? Not that I can recall, but I'm probably wrong.

So if Cooey's claims would be true, which they weren't, would the obese have to stop getting shots to prevent even more deadlier diseases? Even if it were true, it would never be possible.

Open Letter to Kathy Cox, Georgia, State Superintendent of Schools

By Wilbur Corncob at 10/15/08 14:28
, education: Kathy Cox Georiga State Superintendent of SchoolsAn open letter to Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, State of Georgia (state.superintendent@doe.k12.ga.us)

Dear Ms. Cox,

As a webmaster that operates a variety of forums and blogs, it is fairly often that students from various schools make public comments on these websites. I am quite happy when students take the opportunity to express themselves. I am also happy to provide the students with the opportunity to express their opinions freely; and, even express unpopular viewpoints.

FBI Clearances for Future Teachers

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/14/08 18:57
There are some things I can understand in life, and there are some things I just can't. One thing I can't though is having to get FBI clearances just to shadow a teacher at any given school. This is just to shadow or observe the teacher not to be a student teacher in the classroom. So why would a student need FBI clearances of all things, just to observe a teacher for an hour? I can understand this if it was only for student teaching.

Another thing is that not all school districts require a college student to get FBI clearances to observe in one of their schools. And that is what is agitating me. If School A requires clearances to observe and School B (which is only 10 miles away and School A's rival) doesn't require clearances, which school would you choose to go to?

The last thing bothering me is the time it takes to get the clearances. The clearances come in a set of three, and all three are needed, you can't have two without the last one. And the one clearance takes almost 4 weeks to process. What kind of crap is this? That means if your clearances aren't in by the time you need to shadow, excuse my language, but you are shit out of luck.

So if you can guess correctly, yes I am a college student who needs FBI clearances, which if you can guess again, haven't come in for me.

Wells Fargo Bank

By Wilbur Corncob at 10/11/08 05:28
The other day I filled out an online account application to open an account with Wells Fargo Bank. It was quite a detailed application and took some time to complete.

I was a bit shocked when I got their response a day later!

That Technology May Be Closer Than We Think

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/09/08 21:07
I watched a special on the History Channel the other day talking about the technology of the Star Wars world. The program told me that man of the things in the Star Wars world, we actually already have, even if its only in the early stages. Take the robots/droids for example. With how our technology advances each day, it looks like we can have fully functioning robots such as that in maybe 20 years or so. Makes you think doesn't it?

Unnecessary Accusations

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/07/08 14:25
I'm sure some of you have heard about how Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin has accused Barack Obama about being associated with terrorists. That may spark some anger in people, but those people need to hear the true story. Turns out Obama served with a man named Bill Ayers, who was responsible for a bombing in San Francisco during the Vietnam war. Ayers' plan was to fight against the Vietnam War at home and ensure that it ended quickly. But because of some misconduct in court, he got off free.

But now Ayers is a college professor in Chicago and served on some different education boards. And that is how he and Obama met. The two men weren't even on the same board, but did work together to distribute eductional grants. That only lasted about a year and was in 2002.

So Obama has links with deadly terrorists who still haunt this land today? Likely story Palin. This just proves that McCain and Palin really don't have anything to say about anything important and are focusing on belittling Obama.

Will It Be Compatible?

By Jamin Greensbury at 10/03/08 19:03
I know I have blogged a lot about the Guitar and Rock Band series. But now a pressing question has come up for me regarding both of them. There has been controvery about how the Guitar Hero controllers for the Wii won't work for Rock Band. But will this problem persist in Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 4?

This is regarding the items I already have. I have two controllers for Guitar Hero, which in their current state are NOT compatible with Rock Band. Nut will they be okay to use for the second installment. I am just wondering this because I'd rather not have to buy a new set of guitar controllers for the a different game.

The answer is simple; both companies want more and more money. And that's the way the world works.
