60 Million Windows Vista Units Out the Door

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/27/07 16:32
, windows vista: Microsoft Seeks World Dominitation Through Inferior Products
60 Million Windows Vista Units Out the Door
And too bad they aren't in the trash
The news reports are in. Microsoft has shipped 60 million copies of Vista since its release. The most exciting part of the news for me is that I am not one of the 60 million that will be tortured and tormented by the latest release of Windows.

I normally make it through my work day (and certainly my play day) without the being inflicted with the pain of any version of Windows. My release from the prison of Windows came 1-1/2 years ago when I installed FreeBSD and Gnome on my workstation.

The Problem with Drunk Driving or Should we Say Drunk Space Shuttle Flying!

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/27/07 16:25
The real problem isn't that astronauts are flying drunk or even that someone is driving drunk. The real problem is that everyone isn't doing it!

Just think how much more fun a flight in a commerical airliner would be if it felt like a roller coaster and you saw other planes diping and zippping about too.

Is Target's Blu-ray plan Pro Blu-ray or Anti-Consumer?

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/27/07 07:23
All things Hi Def reports that Target will exclusively carry the Blu-ray disc players. They call it a "retail victory for the Blu-ray Disc format".

My question is whether this policy by Target is for the benefit of Consumers? I believe that only by benefiting consumers can Target survive as a corporation. Too bad they are limited competetion for hd players and not offering a competitive marketplace within their stores where the consumer could decide which technology is better!

Who Becomes the Monster? Google or Sprint?

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/27/07 07:18
The news reports about Google and Sprint teaming up on a new WiMax Network disgusts me. The reason simple, I am not a fan of Sprint. I still remember them as one of my motivations for creating Phone Hell for significant over charing of domestic long distance.

Though many people complain about Google and think they have some plan for world domination I don't see where they have abused the public.

Tagged! Who's Watching You? Still Paranoid?

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/26/07 21:37
A lot of so called privacy advocates are griping about the new e-passports from the United States. The first problem of course is that everyone calls something an e-something when it is something internet or electronic based.

These new e-passports are just a regular passport but they have a chip in them. The paranoid crowd worries that the US Government will be tracking their movements with these chips.

Fat Fat Fat!!! Why you are Fat and What to Do About it!

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/26/07 21:14
I was wrong this morning when I annouced the new at home fat suction machine that you can use everyday. Your lack of this device is NOT why you are fat according to the Sydney Morning Herald their headline screams, "Why fat is a friendship issue".

They are right too. You are fat because your friends are fat and you eat what they eat! For example, the article annouced that "If your friend becomes obese, the researchers found, your chances of becoming obese go up 57 per cent."

Suspicious Luggage Closes Long Beach California Airport

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/26/07 14:39
, airports: Reuters Gets the Scoup on Suspicious Luggage
I was spell bound as I read the Reuters news story about the Long Beach California aiport being closed and evacuated over a piece of suspicous luggage.

Ok, the truth. I wasn't really spell bound as the news service probably hoped their readers would be. I was actually very bored. I wanted to know what was inside the luggage. I wanted to know why it was suspicious. I wanted to know where it came from. I wanted to see a photo of it.

Apple Profits Surge on Announcement of Iphone Implants

By Wilbur Corncon at 07/26/07 14:01
The most troubling aspect of the iphone from a corporate prescriptive is the possiblity that customers won't fulfil their obligations under the contract.

Someone might start publishing unlock codes on the internet and allowing the customers to break the contract and use their iphone with a different carrier. This is a severe risk to the bottom line of the Apple Computer Corporation!
