Did you know that the transportation of live reptiles out of Egypt is illegal? Well apparently a 22-year old man headed to Saudi Arabia didn't; because when airport security checked his bags they found a bit more than just clothing and a toothbrush. They opened his bags to find numerous snakes and chameleons.There were also several baby crocodiles found in his bags. The man claims that the reptiles were needed for a Saudi university for scientific experiments. All of the reptiles found in this man's possession were confiscated and handed over to the Cairo Zoo. The man was released and allowed to board his flight home to Saudi Arabia.
Fortunately this is just the story of some poor reptiles and not about someone who supposedly needs some explosives for "scientific experiments" or security too busy freaking out over some little snakes than someone else carrying something truely dangerous.
This may also have been a conspiracy by the Cairo Zoo to develop a snake display with little effort or cost.
